PLUSH ANIMALS

Collecting plush animals

Some people collect stamps, others shoes, I collect plush animals. In my collection you will mostly find big cats, wolves, foxes and opossums (I am not collecting any species). It is always a joy to find a rare, beautiful plush animal - I guess all collectors know that feeling. Of course I keep them in a smoking-free home.

We (my husband and I) own about 300 plush animals, however we have become more picky over the years, so we are now only concentrating on really nice and rare stuffed animals. I have created a plushie website including photos of my collection, where I am also trying to give some useful information about brands, where to buy them, etc.

Selfmade plush animals

I already gave it a try to build plushies myself (for better results I still lack a lot of knowledge). The results can be seen here. I don't really have a pattern for making plushies, so you don't need to ask me for one - I am sorry there is nothing I could give you.

In 2010/2011 we started making hand puppets ourselves for the Eurofurence Pawpet Show. We started with making simple hand puppets inspired by the pattern of Folkmanis plushies, and ended up in making complexe large puppets, played by several people, like the two tigers. I made the heads, together with Tioh, who helped me with the eyes, while Kyron and Runo made the full bodies and Xan the airbrush.

        "SheeSha" (2014)

The first proper plush animal I made myself - a lying / curled up silver-fox. Hand sewn, heavy fillings in the paws, glass eyes and airbrushed.
          "Jiao Chan" (2011)

Jiao Chan, the evil tigress (played by me) for the EF17 Pawpet Show. I made the head of the tiger puppets with Tioh, the body and airbrush were done by Kyron, Runo and Xan.
          "Wan Yun" (2011)

Wan Yun, Jiao Chan's daughter, for the EF17 Pawpet Show. I made the head of the tiger puppets together with Tioh, the body and airbrush were done by Kyron, Runo and Xan.
          "Malika" (2010)

Malika, the Fennec. She is a hand puppet I made based on the fox puppet pattern by Folkmanis (it was just for the Pawpet Show, it is not for sale).
